An early essay by Evelyn Waugh with a preface by Waugh’s friend, Christopher Sykes, the art dealer and specialist in the Victorian period. Sykes comments of Waugh, “he was now a writer from this time henceforth had to be taken seriously“. The publication is illustrated with little known portraits of Rossetti, Hunt and Millais, as well as academic studies and sketches. It is printed on mould made paper and bound in full cloth. The essay was initially privately published in 1926 by his friend, Alistair Graham, at the Shakespeare Head Press.
Blue cloth boards with red lettering on the boards and spine. In clean condition. Red front paste down. The pages are clean. The book comes with an information sheet about the edition and printing. 7 x 10”. 44 printed pages.
