Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway
This lovely early US copy of this highly successful novel which secured Hemingway’s literary career. Farewell to Arms was a best seller and this copy was published in agreement with the original publisher of the first edition, Charles Scriber’s Sons. “The issuance of this complete and unabridged new edition at a reduced price is made possible by (a) the use of the same plate made for the original edition and (b) acceptance by the author of a reduced royalty.” The copy has a bright dust jacket and is a very good condition. A lovely copy.
Original, black boards with red label on the front and spine. Very light bumping of the edges. Booksellers stamp on the front paste down. Signature dated 1946 on the front free page. The top edge of the pages are red and side edge are uncut. The contents are very clean. The dust jacket has some chipping/small tears on the extremities with a small loss of spine ends and corners. 8vo 353 printed pages.
