The Movements and Habits of Climbing Plants by Charles Darwin

This essay was first published as a paper in the Journal of the Linnean Society in 1865. “Darwin’s interest in climbing plants was not that of a systematic botanist but an attempt to discover what adaptive value the habit of climbing has.” (DSB). The illustrations were drawn by the author’s son, George Darwin.  A very good copy with no major flaws.

Original green cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. The spine ends and corners are lightly bumped. End papers are clean and the contents are free from markings. 8vo 208 printed pages plus publishers listings of other works.
