Rare first edition in book form with original binding of the classic novel, Hard Times. This publication, along with Great Expectations, were the only two Dickens’ novels published without illustrations in their first printings. Marked 5/- at the foot of the spine and page 244 mis numbered as “44” and all first state internal flaws as per W. E. Smith p87/8. Original horizontal ribbed olive green lettering silk cloth with blind stamped spine. Light damage to the title lettering on spine. Faded spine and spotting on the boards. Exceptionally clean and tight contents and rare to find in such fine condition. 8vo 352pp
