First edition, with first state points of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With 24 coloured plates including the rare coloured plate between pages 14 and 15.
Light green cloth stamped in green and red with publisher’s name at spine in red, with the “Co” having the “o” enclosed in the “C”. Professionally rebacked with the original spine relayed. Very clean boards. Spine is slightly darkened. Pictorial end papers in clean condition. The contents are clean and illustrations are bright.
The title page has the year 1900. The copyright is 1899 with the “R”’s having tails that are on a line with the rest of the printing.
There is no box around the publisher’s advertisement on page 2, The first line on page 14 reads, “low wail of”, On page 34 and page 92, the colour plates are perfect (no dots in moon or red horizon), Page 81, 4th line from bottom: “pieces” spelled correctly. Pages 100 and 186 both with broken type in last line. Page 227: “While the woodman…“. 13- line colophon and illustration on rear paste down.
