The Vicar of Wakefield, or A Tale, Supposed to be written by Himself, is a romantic novel by the Irish author, Oliver Goldsmith (1728–1774). Initially published in 1766 and one of the most widely read 18th-century novels among the Victorians. Numbered 129 of 200 copies for the American issues. Signed by the illustrator, Arthur Rackham.

Cream hard backed boards with gilt lettering on the spine and front boards plus triple lined border. Rose motif on the spine. Spine and edges are darkened. Dated 1929 on the spine. Small mark on the title lettering. The corners and edges have minimal wear. Gilt top end of the pages. Side and bottom pages are uncut. Light grey/green illustrated end pages in very good condition. Title page with red lettering of the title and illustration. Twelve full page colour illustrations including the frontpiece. Black and white illustrations throughout the text. 232 printed pages. 10.5 x 8″
