The early German fairy tale romance, written in 1811 by Friedrich de la Motte, describes a water spirit named Undine who marries a knight named Huldebrand in order to gain a soul. Arthur Rackham’s delightful illustrations add value to the edition. An often treasured mermaid story and a rare addition to a Rackham collection.
