Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller: first edition thus
Henry Miller (1891-1980) was an American writer who broke the conventions of literary forms. The Tropic of Cancer portrays his personal struggles living as a bohemian in Paris. The first edition novel was published in Paris in 1930 by The Obelisk Press. However, the controversial content meant that it was not published in the UK by John Calder until thirty years later.
Original grey cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. The spine ends are bumped. The contents are clean with little sign of wear. The unclipped dust jacket is bright. Some wear on the spine ends with chipping and loss to the bottom end of the spine. The folds and edges have mild wear. Some marks on the rear cover. 318 pp. 8vo.
