Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller: first edition

Henry Miller (1891-1980) was an American writer who broke the conventions of literary forms. The Tropic of Cancer is his study of the human condition and portrays his personal struggles living as a bohemian in Paris. This novel was first published in Paris in 1930. However, the controversial content meant that it was not published in the UK until thirty years later. This first edition has a dust jacket and is in very good condition.

Original grey cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. The spine ends are bumped. The contents are clean with little sign of wear. The unclipped dust jacket is bright. There is some wear on the spine ends with chipping and some loss to the bottom end of the spine. The folds and edges have mild wear. Some marks on the rear cover. 318 pp. 8vo.
