A very good copy of the fourth and final novel of Sherlock Holmes. The Valley of Fear was first published in Strand Magazine in 1914/15. This first UK edition has a frontpiece by Frank Wiles.
Original red cloth boards with gilt lettering on the upper cover and spine. Bumping on the corners and spine ends. Bleeding of the red colour onto the front pages and top upper mildly discoloured top corner. Clean end papers . the contents have a few marks on some of the pages. Hinges a little weak in places. A nice copy. 8vo 306pp. 6 pages of advertisments.
