The Roly-Poly Pudding by Beatrix Potter
A first edition of the classic children’s book in October 1908 as The Roly-Poly Pudding. In 1926, it was re-published as The Tale of Samuel Whiskers. Beatrix Potter dedicated the book to her pet rat,”Sammy” and tells of Tom Kitten’s escape from two rats who plan to make him into a pudding.
Red cloth boards with grey and gilt lettering on the spine and cover. Colour pictorial label on the cover which has light red bleeding from the cloth. Some water spots on the cover. Illustrated end papers. Bevelled edges. Light wear to the extremities. Small booksellers stamp on the front paste down. Signature of previous owner dated 1918 on the half title page. The contents are generally clean with a few brown spots within the pages. 17 full page coloured illustrations as called for. Tiny tear on page 21.69 pp. 6 x 8″.
