A very good/close to fine edition of this famous children’s book by the American writer and cartoonist, Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr Seuss).

Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904 – 1991), aka Dr Seuss, is known for his successful illustrated children’s books. He wrote forty six books which are widly acclaimed as making a significant contribution to children’s education. The Cat in the Hat was written following a report on children’s literacy in Life Magazine. Geisell used simplified language and a playful rhythm which quickly caught children’s imagination. After fifty years the book still remains a popular choice for children’s reading.

Matt blue covers with bright colours of the illustrations. No marks on the covers. Spine colours are good and there is minimal wear on the edges. The rear cover has a blackboard image with reviews of the book underneath. Both front and rear end papers have a bright image of the Cat. The title page has “The Cat in the Hat By Dr Seuss” and “Random House”. Copyright page has only “Copyright 1957 by Dr Seuss” as publication details. Contents all clean and free from children’s scribbles or tears. 61 printed pages plus rear page with comments on the book. 9 x 7″.

Dust jacket in very good condition. It is a first edition, first impression state without the 200/200 on the front flap. Illustrations as the book. Front flap has description of the book with no price marked. The rear panel has a photograph and further information about the author and the story.
