Rhyme and Reason is a collection  humorous poetry by Lewis Carroll containing a reprinintg of his longest poem ‘Phantasmagoria’ and ‘The Hunting of the Snark’. It includes the first printings of the poems, ‘Echoes’, ‘A Game of Fives’ and the last of the three of the ‘Four Riddles’ and ‘Fame’s Penny-Trumpet’. Rhyme and Reason, First Edition is a lovely edition of this charming collection of poems.

Original olive green cloth boards with bright gilt lines and a mildly rubbed vignette. Small patch of soiling on the front board. Protected by a clear thin archival protector. Mild foxing on front pages, otherwise clean. Dark end pages. Clear and untouched black and white illustrations throughout the text. Frontpiece illustration is protected by a tissue guard. Small pencil signature and a library sticker on the front end papers plus ink signature on the reverse of the front illustration. Loose front half title page and rear binding is cracked but holding well. 7 1/2 x 5″ 214 printed pages plus a page of other works by Lewis Carroll.
