The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
A very good copy of the special Reprint Society edition of this classic novel, The Old Man and the Sea. Black and white illustrations within this unique edition are by C. F. Turncliffe and Raymond Sheppard. This club edition was printed for “World Book Members Only” as stated on the front flap. Hemingway set the novel in the Gulf Stream of Florida and recounts the tale of Santiago, a Cuban fisherman, in his catch of a giant marlin.
Original bright, aqua cloth boards with silver gilt illustration and lettering on the spine. Title within a red box on the spine. The spine ends are lightly bumped and otherwise little sign of wear. End papers have fish illustrations and ink signature on the front paste down. Stamp with address on the rear paste down. The contents are clean and tightly bound. the dust jacket has bright colouring. chipping on the spine ends with some small loss. Front flap top edge has 1cm closed tear. Rear top edge of the spine has 2cm tear. Very lightly grubby in a few places on the cover. 8vo tall – 8″ x %”. 117 printed pages.
