Master Humphreys Clock by Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens wrote and edited a weekly serial called “Master Humphreys Clock” from April 4th 1840 until December 4th 1841. Short stories based around Master Humphrey and included two novels called “The Old Curiosity Shop” and “Barnaby Rudge“. Originally Dickens did not wish the publications to be collected. However, three volumes of the short stories and novels were published in 1840 with the publication order of the texts as they appeared in the serial.

Dark green half morocco bound volumes with dark red panels and gilt lettering. Spine and corners bumped. Page edges marbled and in clean condition. All volumes illustrated. Spots of foxing. Vol 1 has pencil inscription on free pages. 306pp (vol 1), vi + 306pp (vol 2), 426pp (vol 3).
