A first edition publication of Graham Greene’s account of his travels to Mexico. The Lawless Roads relates the journey across the country and Greene’s observations of the effects of the government’s campaign of anti-Catholic secularisation. Sections of the book originally appeared in The Spectator, The Tablet , The New Statesman and the Evening Standard. Includes ten black and white illustrations mostly from Greene’s photographs.
Original red cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. The boards are mildly marked however, little sign of wear on the extremities and corners. Bright yellow map on the end pages. Signature on the half title page in pencil. The contents are clean. 306 printed pages. 8vo
