Two works of Charles Dickens in one volume and in very good condition. Great Expectations and The Uncommercial Traveller both have black and white frontis illustrations. The Uncommercial Traveller is a series of semi-autobiographical essays of Dickens’ observations of contemporary life on the streets of London. Originally appearing in the journal, All the Year Round, in the early 1860’s.
Bound in contemporary half calf with wear to the edges and extremities. Clean covers. Marbled end papers which are in very good condition – small white mark on the front paste down. Marbled ends of the pages. Previous owner’s dedication written in ink which is visible on the frontis illustration. The contents are very clean and the bindings are tight. Pages 148/9 are browned and one page small dog eared. 268 & 204 pp. 8vo.
