Picture Book for the French Red Cross by Edmund Dulac
Picture Book for the French Red Cross collection of children’s stories with colour illustrations throughout the book. The volume was published for The Daily Telegraph newspaper to raise funds for the French Red Cross (Croix Rouge Française) by the Comité de Londres (Committee in London) under the patronage of H.M. Queen Alexandra. Dulac designed the book’s covers and wrote an appeal for the cause.
Pale cloth original boards with dark, green lettering and illustrations on the cover. Darkened spine. Twenty colour plates (including frontispiece) plus a black and white camera portrait of Dulac. All mounted on grey art paper framed with light green lines and with green titles. Cream end papers. Contents are clean. Large quarto (10 13/16 x 8 5/16 inches; 275 x 211 mm.) 134 pp.
