The Devils of Loudun is recognised as one of Aldous Huxley’s best works. This copy is in very good condition with an unclipped dust jacket in similarly very good state. The book contains seven black and white illustrations including a frontpiece of an engraving from ‘Urbain Grandier et les Possedees de Loudun’ by Dr. Gabriel Legué.
Bright orange, original boards with gilt text on dark rectangle surrounded by a gilt fringe. The ends of the spine are lightly bumped. Otherwise little sign of wear. The contents are in very clean condition. Light spotting on the ends of the pages. Lightly cocked edition. Top edge of the pages are brown. Signature on the contents page. The unclipped dust jacket is brightly coloured with price 18s net on front flap. The spine is slightly lighter in colour. The rear cover has a small brown mark and is a little browned. Spine ends are chipped with small loss. Tiny chips on the lower corners. 8vo 356 printed pages.
