A presentation copy of Symbolic Logic, Part 1 in very good condition. Dodgson donated presentation copies of this mathematical work to Wigan Free Library and the Linen Hall Library in Belfast. (Williams, Madan, Green and Crutch 270). Symbolic Logic was intended to consist the three parts, Elementary, Advanced and Transcendental is an attempt to popularize Formal Logic and accuracy of thought. This third edition contains the preface dated 20 July 1896.
Original brown cloth boards lettered in black on the front cover. Rubbed and soiled covers with lightly darkened spine and minimal edge wear. Library bookplate to the front paste down. ” Withdrawn” stamp plus contemporary librarian cataloguing note on front free page. Blue ink presentation inscription by the publisher to the half title reading, “Presented by the Author for the use of Free Public Library Wigan”.
