A very good condition copy of this first edition of the classic novel Brideshead Revisited. The plot around an aristocratic -English-Catholic family in the decade leading up to WWII. The successful saga became the basis for the 1981 mini-series written by John Mortimer plus many other TV films and productions. Waugh wrote that the novel “deals with what is theologically termed the operation of Grace, that is to say, the unmerited and unilateral act of love by which God continually calls souls to Himself”. This edition has no dust jacket.
Original red/pink cloth boards with a darkened spine. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Light bumping of the corners. A few faint marks on the covers. The contents conform to the economy standards of the war. The pages are clean and the bindings are very good. 8vo 304 printed pages.
