A lovely copy of For Whom the Bell Tolls with a good provenance. The book has a book plate signed by Harry Purdy who is possibly a relation of Leonard “Bud” Purdy who was a close friend of the author. In addition, the front paste down has a signature of Henry Blofeld, the English cricket commentator and relation to the Norfolk landowners in England.
Original blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to the spine. the spine ends are bumped. Shelf wear to the edges and spine folds. Front pages have browned panel. contents are light bro wend and clean. The colourful dust jacket is unclipped marked 9s 0d net. The folds are worn with a 1 x 4 cm piece missing form the top edge of the spine. 3cm closed tear across the spine ending with hole on the front spine edge. 8vo 462 printed pages
