Babar the King by Jean De Brunhoff

Babar stories were originally devised as bedtime tales for his children and Jean de Brunhoff was only able to complete six books before his untimely death at the age of 37. His brother, Michel, and his son, Laurent continued the work that Jean de Brunhoff had started and the books have proved to be a international success.
