Rare first of both Alice books by Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) in miniature format. Both editions are in good condition, bound in original red cloth covers with gilt lettering and motif. Internally both volumes are very clean and tight. Miniature size of 11 x 16cm.

Alices Adventures in Wonderland spine is darkened and spine ends and spine edge frayed. Bright gilt illustration of Alice in circular vignette on the front cover. Pen signature on front free page. Rusted paperclip marks on front and rear free end pages. Forty two black and white illustrations by John Tenniel, all intact and clean. Hinges all tight and a tidy copy. 204 printed pages plus “Easter Greetings” and “Christmas Greetings” poem and two pages of books by Lewis Carroll.

Through the Looking Glass has a faded spine and mildly water stained front cover and a little marked on the rear too. Gilt circular vignette around queen illustration on the front cover. Minimal foxing on front and rear end pages. All other pages clean and tidy. Fifty black and white illustrations by John Tenniel thoughout the book in excellent order. 232 printed pages plus “Easter Greeting” and “Christmas Greeting” poem at the end of the book. Also two pages of works by Lewis Carroll.

These are charming editions of this classic story and make a lovely addition to a collection of Lewis Carroll’s work.
