A Group of Noble Dames, Volume XV of The Wessex Novels, by Thomas Hardy
A Group of Noble Dames is a collection of ten stories that had been previously published in serial magazines before Hardy collected them into this book form. Several of the books were published early in his career such as, “The Duchess of Hamptonshire” and “The Honourable Laura” in 1878 and 1881 respectively. This edition is in good condition.
Dark blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on the front and spine. the corners are bumped and the spine edges are worn with a small tear on the top of the spine. Light stain on the front lower corner. Illustrated frontis etching by H. Macbeth-Raeburn and a map of Wessex at the rear of the book. Top edge is gilt. Clean end pages and contents. 8vo 271 pp.
