St Ives, the Adventures of a French Prisoner in England, by Robert Louis Stevenson
St Ives tells the adventures of a Napoleonic soldier, Viscomte Anne de Keroual de St. Ives, enlisted as Camdivers. The dashing adventurer is captured by the British Army yet R. L. Stevenson was unable to finish the novel. Stevenson began the book in 1893/4 and around six weeks before he died he put aside for another work, Weir of Hermiston. It was Arthur Quiller Couch who completed the novel for publication. Preceded by the American edition published in 1897. This edition is in very good condition.
Original charcoal cloth boards with gilt lettering to the cover and spine. Publishers imprint on the rear cover. Dedication on the front free page dated 1897. The contents are clean and tidy. 8vo 312 printed pages.
