Second Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
The Second Jungle Book features five stories about the now famous Mowgli plus three unrelated stories. The tales are set in India yet written in Vermont whilst Kipling was living there with his American wife. The book contains a bookplate of the Oxford English historian, Charles Robert Leslie Fetcher (22 October 1857 – 30 April 1934). He had a significant attachment to Kipling as he included 23 of his poems in his book, School History of England.
The book is in very presentable condition. Original blue cloth boards with gilt borders and illustration of a snake on the cover. The spine is faded with gilt dulled. Bookplate of C. R. L. Fletcher and tiny Oxford booksellers stamp on the front free page. Dark green endpapers. The contents are foxed throughout. Page 65 is dog eared. 235 plus poems & ads. 8vo
