“Phantasmagoria” is a narrative discussion written in seven cantos between a ghost (a Phantom) and a man named Tibbets. Several of the poems are printed for the first time, Phantosmgoria, A Valentine, A Double Acrostic, The Valley of the Shadow of Death, Lines, Stanzas for Music and Christmas Greetings. The others appeared in magazines and periodicals with the exception of “The Elections to the Hebdomal Council”. Printed by T. Combe, E. B. Gardener, E.P. Hall and H. Dark blue cloth boards with double gilt line border on the front and rear covers. Gilt illustrations on both covers; Crab Nebula in Taurus and Donati’s Comet, two distinguished members of the Celestial Phantasmagoria. The gilt is rubbed and the spine darkened. Cloth is bumped on the cover. White bleach spots on the front cover. Brown end pages. Additional piece of paper sized 2 x 3″ attached to the half title page. Gilt page edges.
