Summary Of Our Service:

Antique Books are dedicated to providing an excellent service to all our customers, wherever in the world they may be located. We believe rare books deserve special care and all our books are all gift wrapped for our customers. We aim to ensure that all transactions are conducted to a high professional standard. We are members of the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA) and The Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA). We adhere to their high standards and Code of Practice in book selling.

All books are collated carefully and any defects are noted in their descriptions on the website. All items are carefully packed and fully insured to ensure that the parcel is received safely and we ship for free all around the world. If a book is found to be unsatisfactory it can be returned for a full refund if the customer notifies us within a 14 day notification period. Refunds are restricted to the original purchase price. All books on our website are subject to prior sale. We accept payment for books via Paypal and credit card. All items remain the property of Rare and Antique Books until they are fully paid for.

We are registered in England under the trading name of Rare and Antique Books Limited and our registration number is 220 407460. Our registered address is Robert Chalk, Rare and Antique Books Ltd, 18 Southernhay East, Exeter. Devon EX1 1QD, UK. 

Contract

1. These Terms and Conditions govern the sale of goods by us and will form the basis of the contract between us and you. Before making your order, please ensure that you have read these Terms and Conditions carefully and contact us for further information if required. All orders for books made by you are subject to these Terms and Conditions.

1.2. Nothing provided by us including, but not limited to, sales and marketing literature, price lists and other documents constitutes a contractual offer capable of acceptance. Your order constitutes a contractual offer that we may, at our discretion, accept. A legally binding contract between us and you will be created upon our acceptance of your order. Confirmation of orders will be offered in writing. Information about shipping, price of goods, payments and delivery are available before a contract of sale is confirmed.

1.3 To minimise fraud Rare and Antique Books reserve the right to request proof of identity of the buyer for items of high value.

1.4 You may contact us in writing to change or cancel your order at any time before we dispatch the books. If you have already paid for the order the monies will be refunded to you within 14 business days. We may cancel your order at any time before we despatch the books if the book is no longer in stock. Or if an event lasting more than 28 days  affecting our business is out of our control. Any orders made under these circumstances will be confirmed in writing and refunded within 14 business days.

2. Shipping

2.1 Expected delivery times may vary according to circumstances out of our control (see below for more details). Items are fully insured and will be despatched by courier (international) or tracked and signed delivery (UK) wherever possible. If applicable all additional delivery charges, payments, or delivery times will be be provided prior to contract. Where such charges cannot be calculated in advance, the manner in which they will be calculated will be provided for you.

2.2 Delivery will be deemed to have occurred when the books have been delivered to the delivery address as per the order and you (or someone identified by you) have taken physical possession of the books and at which point the book is owned by you. For any orders that are returned to our address due to inability to deliver we will contact you requesting a rearrangement of the delivery.

2.3 Rare and Antique Books assume responsibility for the books until delivery to you or allocated person is complete and will then be passed onto you. If you request your own carrier the responsibility of transport remains with you and your chosen carrier.

2.4 Books are delivered free to UK and international customers. Note that local taxes and customs fee may apply.

2.5 There are no additional taxes applicable for any books bought from Rare And Antique Books. In the UK printed books, magazines and maps are all zero rated for VAT purposes.

3. Return and Refund

3.1. Rare and Antique Books have have made every reasonable effort to ensure that the books conform to illustrations, photographs and descriptions provided. We cannot, however, guarantee that all photographs will be precisely accurate due to discrepancies arising from differences in the colour reproduction of electronic displays. If you receive any books that do not conform to the description or images we offer a refund from the date of receipt, for the full value of the book at the time of purchase. The refund will be made to the same PayPal or credit card account used to make the initial payment.

3.2. Contact Us to inform Rare and Antique Books about any problem you have with a sale and the reason for the return of the purchase within 14 days of receiving it. Return the book to us in the exact state that you received it and notify us. Rare and Antique books will cover the cost of shipping the book if the item has not arrived as described on the website. For all other returns the expense of postage is covered by the customer. These shipping costs will include tracking and/or insurance if required. Once Rare and Antique Books have received the returned item the refund will be immediately processed.

4. Events out of our control.

4.1. Rare and Antique Books will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where that failure or delay results from any cause that is beyond our reasonable control. Such causes include, but are not limited to: lock-outs or other industrial action by third parties, power failure, strikes, internet service provider failure, riots and other civil unrest, fire, explosion, earthquakes, subsidence, flood, storms, threatened or actual acts of terrorism, any acts of war, epidemic or other natural disaster, or any other event that is beyond our reasonable control.

4.2. Our obligations under these situations will be suspended and we will inform you as soon as is reasonably possible about any time limits or changes in our service. For any situation that last more than 30 days orders will be cancelled and we will notify you with refunds made as soon as possible. You may cancel any order under any event which is out of our control as cited above.

5. Governing Laws

5.1 These Terms and Conditions, the contract, and the relationship between you and us shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with English law. Any controversy, dispute, proceedings or claim between you and us relating to these Terms and Conditions, the Contract, or the relationship between you and us (contractual or otherwise) shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, as determined by your residency.
